Approach
Clear thinking. Practical implementation.
We define the problem and the intended benefit, test a bounded solution, then implement what proves useful. Evaluation, team adoption and clear ownership are part of the work, not tasks left until the end.
How the work happens
Understand. Test. Implement. Improve.
Understand
Learn the task, the people, the information, the constraints and the change worth making, and confirm the real problem before recommending any technology. Then compare the feasible options, including ones without AI, and choose a bounded starting point, with the reason for choosing it.
Test
Try that starting point against agreed examples, including the cases where it should fail safely. Record what works, what does not, and what further evidence is needed before going further.
Implement
Integrate what proves useful with approved systems. Define who is responsible for what, document the solution, and support the people who will use it.
Improve
Review usefulness and limitations once the work is in use. Agree maintenance, monitoring and further changes: putting a system into use does not finish the job.
Human judgement
How much is automated depends on what is at stake.
A process is not automated all at once. We look at each step in it and agree how much the system does on its own, according to what a mistake in that step would cost.
Prepared for review
The system does the groundwork; a person checks it and decides.
Recommended for a choice
The system proposes; a person approves or chooses differently.
Done automatically
The system acts within agreed limits, keeps a record, and passes anything unusual to a person.
One process usually uses all three. In invoice handling, for example, reading the invoice can be automatic, matching it to an order can be a recommendation, and approving the payment stays with a person. Steps move towards automation only as they prove reliable.
A person approving what they cannot evaluate is not real control. The aim is meaningful understanding and responsibility, in proportion to the work.
